Phyto-Calm Aloe Hydrator is a calming daily moisturiser with aloe vera, niacinamide, and a Phyto-Retinol Complex to soothe, hydrate, and strengthen skin prone to redness or sensitivity, without the irritation of conventional retinol. Part of the Glo Skin Beauty Calm + Soothe range, distributed in the UK and Ireland by Glo Skin Beauty UK & Ireland.

What It Does

Redness and reactive flush are visibly calmed, skin feels deeply soothed and comfortable, and the skin's tolerance to everyday irritants is progressively improved with regular use. In an independent clinical study of 30 healthy female volunteers (ages 36–68), 83% reported calmer, less red-looking skin after one month, and 93% said skin appeared brighter and more radiant. Clinical assessment confirmed statistically significant improvement in hydration from week one, with improvements sustained and built upon at the one-month mark.

Key Actives

Aloe vera is the cornerstone of this formulation, a powerfully soothing, anti-inflammatory botanical that calms reactive skin on contact. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) strengthens the skin barrier, helps reduce the appearance of redness and pigmentation, and helps minimise the look of pores. The Phyto-Retinol Complex is a plant-based retinol alternative that may deliver retinol-like firming and smoothing results without the sensitivity associated with conventional retinol, making this formula one of the few daily moisturisers to offer visible resurfacing benefits in a formulation appropriate for even reactive skin. Free of artificial fragrance. Contains natural botanical aromatics (Rose Flower Oil, Lavender Extract).

Who It Suits

Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and redness-prone. Particularly well suited to reactive, sensitised, or post-treatment skin. Use AM and PM after cleansing and toning. Pea-sized amount. Retail 50ml only.

Aloe is the first ingredient here rather than a name near the bottom of the list, which is worth knowing because plenty of aloe products are the other way round. This is the moisturiser I put on skin straight after treatment when the priority is comfort.

Key actives

Active What it does Why we use it
Aloe veraAloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice A soothing botanical that calms the feel of hot, reactive skin. First on the ingredient list, so it is the base of the formula rather than a mention on the label.
BisabololBisabolol The calming fraction of chamomile, isolated. It is the part of chamomile that does the soothing, without the rest of the plant coming with it.
Sea buckthorn and pomegranateHippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Seed Extract Antioxidant fruit extracts alongside sodium hyaluronate for water-binding. Reactive skin still needs antioxidant support. These deliver it without an acid or a retinoid attached.
