Recycling electricals (WEEE)

London Road Aesthetics Ltd sells electrical equipment, so we have duties under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations. This page sets out what we do and what you can do.

Our takeback service

When you buy an electrical item from us, you can give us your old item of the same kind to dispose of, free of charge. The brand does not matter, and it does not matter where you bought the old one. Buy an LED mask from us and we will take your old LED mask.

You have 28 days from receiving your new item to hand the old one back. Bring it to The London Road Clinic, 65 London Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 1RZ, during opening hours. Takeback is at the clinic. We do not collect from customers' homes, but you are welcome to post the item to us at your own cost. Contact us first at [email protected] so we know it is coming.

Everything we take back goes to an approved authorised treatment facility, where it is recovered, recycled or prepared for reuse.

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol

Electrical products carry a symbol of a wheelie bin with a cross through it. It means the item must not be put in your general household bin at the end of its life. It has to go to a separate collection point so that it can be treated properly.

Why electricals are kept separate

Electrical equipment is not ordinary rubbish. It holds materials worth recovering, such as copper, aluminium and plastics, and it holds components that need careful handling, such as batteries and circuit boards. Sorting it out from general waste is what makes both of those things possible. Mixed in with everything else, neither happens.

What happens when they are not recycled

Electricals sent to landfill or incineration are a double loss. The materials that could have been recovered are gone, and have to be mined and manufactured again for the next product. The components that need careful handling are no longer being handled carefully, so hazardous content can reach soil and water. Separate collection is what prevents both.

Reusing and recycling your old electricals

Reuse comes before recycling. If a device still works, passing it on keeps it in use and saves everything it took to make. Charity shops, reuse organisations and local giveaway groups all take working electricals. Wipe any personal data and reset the device before you hand it over.

If it has reached the end of its life, you have two routes. Bring it to us under the takeback service above when you buy a replacement from us. Or take it to your local household waste recycling centre, which accepts electricals free of charge from householders. Your council's website lists its sites and what each one takes.

A faulty device is a different matter

This page is about disposal at the end of a device's life. If your device has developed a fault, contact us at [email protected] before recycling anything. Devices bought from us carry a 2-year warranty covering parts and labour, and we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf.
