Skincare after Profhilo and bio-remodelling

Reviewed by Dr Shahe Boghossian, GMC 5204600, last reviewed 12 Jun 2026

Profhilo is a high-concentration hyaluronic acid injected at five precise points on each side of the face. Unlike a dermal filler, it spreads through the deeper skin layers rather than sitting in one location, triggering the skin to produce more of its own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid over the following 60 days.

The treatment leaves minimal visible trace, with no significant downtime, but the result develops slowly and continues building well after the appointment. Your at-home routine during that period supports the response. This guidance is reviewed by Dr Shahe Boghossian, Medical Consultant at The London Road Clinic, a Glo Skin Beauty stockist in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

The recovery window

What to support, what to pause, and for how long.

Hours 0–24

Support with

Clean skin and a gentle moisturiser. Nothing active. Small raised areas at the injection points are normal and settle as the product spreads through the tissue.

Glo: Hydrate + Restore

Pause

Retinol and strong acids at injection sites. Strenuous exercise, saunas, steam. No facial massage or pressure over the treated area for 48 hours.

Days 2–14

Support with

A simple, consistent routine while the product settles. SPF every morning without exception.

Glo: Hydrate + Restore · Protect + Prevent

Pause

Avoid prolonged intense heat such as saunas, steam and very hot showers for the first two weeks. UV accelerates the breakdown of hyaluronic acid.

Week 2 onwards

Support with

Resume your full routine. Collagen-supporting actives such as retinoids, peptides and antioxidants complement the bio-remodelling response developing in the tissue.

Glo: Firm + Repair · Brighten + Glow

Pause

Nothing specific. The result develops over 60 days. Let it.

Avoid this mistake

The most common mistake after Profhilo is concluding the treatment hasn't worked because there's no obvious change at two weeks. Profhilo works through a biological process: it stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen, elastin and the skin's own hyaluronic acid, and that takes 4 to 8 weeks to become visible. A second session at week 4 reinforces the response. The full result is typically visible at 8 to 10 weeks. Patience here isn't passive; it's part of the protocol.

What this routine can and can't do

Bio-remodelling produces a change in skin quality that at-home products can support but cannot replicate. The injectable stimulus, concentrated hyaluronic acid creating a biological response in the deeper dermis, has no topical equivalent. What a consistent routine does is protect and extend that result: daily SPF reduces UV breakdown of hyaluronic acid, and retinoids plus peptides continue building the collagen that Profhilo starts. If after 10 weeks you're unsure whether the result has developed, the right question is for your practitioner, not another product.

Profhilo and bio-remodelling at The London Road Clinic are administered following an in-person consultation, in line with current GMC, NMC, GPhC and GDC guidance. These treatments are for adults aged 18 and over. This page is about what to use at home to support the result between and after appointments.

Frequently asked

Can I use my normal skincare straight after Profhilo?

A simplified routine for the first 24 hours is advisable: a gentle cleanser and a simple moisturiser, without actives or exfoliants at the injection sites. Most people can return to their full routine the following day. The small raised areas at injection points settle on their own; no special treatment is needed.

Why do I have small bumps at the injection sites?

The five injection points on each side, the Bio Aesthetic Points technique, leave small raised areas where the Profhilo is delivered. As it spreads through the tissue over the following hours, these settle and flatten. They are a normal part of the injection process, not a reaction to the product. They typically resolve within a few hours to 24 hours.

When will I see the result after Profhilo?

Most people notice the first changes at around 4 weeks, with the full result visible at 8 to 10 weeks. A course of two sessions, four weeks apart, is the standard protocol for first-time treatment. The second session reinforces the biological response that the first one starts. Your at-home routine during that window supports the process; it doesn't alter the timeline.

Does skincare replace what Profhilo does?

No. Profhilo delivers a stimulus (high-concentration hyaluronic acid that the skin responds to by producing more of its own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid) that no topical product replicates. Skincare extends and maintains the quality that bio-remodelling creates. They work better together than either does without the other.
