Concealer

Concealer

Concealer covers four quite different jobs, and one product rarely does all of them well. Under-eye needs to stay flexible so it does not settle into lines. A blemish needs coverage that stays put. Redness is a colour problem before it is a coverage problem. Each one here is built for a particular task rather than sold as a single answer.

Concealer

Under Eye Concealer is the flexible one, made to sit on thin skin without creasing. Oil Free Camouflage is the high-coverage option for anything you want properly hidden. Spot Treat Concealer is for individual blemishes, and Redness Relief Powder works on colour rather than coverage, which is why it suits diffuse flushing better than a thicker concealer would. Luminous Brightening Concealer sits between the two, lifting shadow without adding weight.

Where to start

Buy for the job you do most mornings. If that is under-eye shadow, start there, and add a spot product separately rather than asking one concealer to do both.

Glo Skin Beauty concealers, curated by the clinicians at The London Road Clinic in Newark, Nottinghamshire, cover under-eye, blemish and redness work in mineral, talc-free formulas. They are the ones we hand to patients who want coverage while their skin settles after a treatment.

Frequently asked

Can I use concealer over a bruise?

Once the skin is intact and unbroken, yes, and a high-coverage camouflage formula pressed gently on top of your base is the usual approach. While the skin is still broken or weeping, leave it alone and speak to your practitioner.

Why does my concealer crease under my eyes?

Usually too much product, or a base that is too dry underneath. Use less than you think, press it in rather than sweeping, and set it lightly if you need to. A flexible under-eye formula creases far less than a full-coverage camouflage will.

Is there anything for redness rather than blemishes?

Redness Relief Powder is the one to look at, because it works on the colour rather than piling coverage over it. It suits general flushing better than a concealer, which tends to look heavy across a wider area.
