Foundation

Foundation

Foundation is the product people most often buy wrong, usually by matching a shade they liked years ago rather than the skin they have now. The bases here are mineral, talc-free and buildable, so you can go sheer on a good week and heavier on a bad one without changing product. They are also what our team reaches for on skin that is part-way through a course of treatment.

Foundation

Pressed Base and Loose Base are the mineral powders, triple-milled and buildable from sheer to full. Satin Cream Foundation and Modern Matte Foundation give you more coverage in a cream, and the HD Mineral Foundation Stick does the same in a format you can carry. Luminous Liquid Foundation SPF18 and the C-Shield Anti-Pollution Moisture Tint SPF30+ build in sun protection if you want one step fewer in the morning.

Where to start

If you are unsure, start with a powder. Pressed Base suits most skin types, builds in stages and is the easiest to correct if you go too far.

Glo Skin Beauty foundation, curated by the clinicians at The London Road Clinic in Newark, Nottinghamshire, covers powder, cream, liquid and stick formats across a shade range built to match rather than approximate. It is the base we use on skin that has recently been treated, chosen for how it sits rather than how much it covers.

Frequently asked

Which foundation should I use after a treatment?

A mineral powder is the gentlest way back to coverage, pressed on rather than rubbed in. Leave anything heavier until redness has settled and your practitioner is happy. Our post-treatment makeup guide goes through it in more detail.

How do I know which shade I am?

Match along the jaw in daylight, not on the back of your hand, and check it again after ten minutes. Most people sit between two shades depending on the season, which is one reason a buildable powder is more forgiving than a liquid.

What is the difference between Pressed Base and Loose Base?

Pressed is the more portable of the two and easier to control. Loose gives a lighter, more diffuse finish and suits drier skin. Both are mineral and both build from sheer to full, so it comes down to finish and how you like to apply it.
