Breakout-prone skin gets treated as though it does not need moisture, and that is where half the trouble starts. These two do the clearing inside the moisturiser step instead of stacking another product on top of it, so the routine stays short. Short routines are the ones people keep to.

Key actives
| Active | What it does | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Salicylic acid | A beta hydroxy acid that works inside the pore, clearing congestion and supporting cell turnover. | It sits in the day formula, so the clearing step is your moisturiser rather than an extra bottle to remember. |
| Bio-fermented complex | A fermented blend used to support the skin's own microbial balance. | This is the night half of the pair, aimed at the barrier rather than at the breakout itself. |
| Marine actives | Algae-derived extracts that help hydration and suppleness. | They keep both formulas comfortable on skin that acids can otherwise leave tight. |

Common questions
No, and it is worth being clear about that. It covers the moisturiser step morning and night. You still need a cleanser and a daily SPF. If you want all four steps in travel sizes, the Clarify + Balance Travel Set is the one to look at instead.
They do opposite jobs. The day formula carries salicylic acid and works on congestion while skin is exposed to oil, sweat and makeup. The night formula leaves the acid out and works on the barrier while skin repairs. Using either one twice a day gets you half the benefit.
Long enough to tell whether the pair suits your skin before you buy either at full size, which is what most people use it for. How long that is depends on how much you apply, so we would rather not quote you a figure we cannot stand behind.
Usually yes, but not on the same night as the day formula, and go slowly. Salicylic acid and retinol together are often more than breakout-prone skin will take at once. If you are on a prescription treatment, ask us first.
